![]() If you take a look at the official HyperX website, the Pulsefire Haste will set you back $49.99. Personally, I didn’t think that I would care much for the hex-shell design, because I typically prefer my mice to have a bit more weight to them, but I’ve found that it feels great and will be great for competitive games like Apex Legends. If, on the other hand, you might need a bit more precision and have to make smaller movements, then you might decide to opt for a mouse with a bit more weight that will allow you to make those small and precise movements with a bit more ease. If you need a mouse that you need to make long and fast sweeps across your mousepad, this mouse will be great for you. This is honestly going to come down to personal preference and what games you play. As far as the weight of the mouse goes, it is an ultra-lightweight mouse after all, so it’s not going to be nearly as hefty as something like the Razer Naga Pro. I haven’t really felt a difference before and after slapping on the included mouse skates, but honestly, I didn’t really have any issues with how the mouse moved on my mousepad to begin with. However, after applying the included grip tape (which, admittedly, I was a bit skeptical of), it instantly felt leagues better. However, I’ve warmed up to it over the last few days and it’s not bad – it just seems like it’s meant for smaller hands. ![]() It took a lot of adjusting to use this mouse and I honestly just thought that design and shape of it was not meant for my hands, which is fine, because not all mice are built for the same people. Now, let’s talk about the very first thing I’ve noticed about the HyperX Pulsefire Haste: initially, it feels horrible.

As if she wasn’t petrifying enough, hearing this music before you actually see Marta will send you running for the nearest locker or barrel of blood (And yes, you do have to hide in barrels of blood).Īll in all, Outlast 2 is a great addition to the franchise that really pushes the boundaries set by the original Outlast. The new environment and fresh ideas really are a breath of fresh air compared to some of the overdone horror tropes as of late. Marta has her very own theme song that sounds like the gates of hell itself opening. One of the scariest things in the game is Marta, an incredibly tall, crazed woman wielding the most horrendous pickaxe ever. The chanting choirs and screeching violins really add to the thrill of the chase or cause you to creep around corners in fear of an enemy approaching. The music is so perfectly matched to the content and environment of the game that it really creates an immersive experience. This is definitely one of the best horror games I have ever played when it comes to the use of music and sound design. One of the greatest things about the Outlast series are their characters, like Gluskin or Walrider, but the interesting character in Outlast 2, like Marta or Papa Knoth, just don’t get enough time devoted to them. Some pretty interesting characters are created but they very rarely get enough air time to really develop. Despite this major problem, there are other plots points that just don’t quite hit the mark. The choice to make such an important plot point missable is lost on me, much like the game’s story. Through my research, I discovered that there is a collectible that not only connects the Outlast games together but also explains a huge part of the plot of Outlast 2. By the end of the game, I was really confused by what had happened, so I tried to look up an explanation of the game’s story and its ending. It starts off incredibly strong, but as it progresses, it begins to make less and less sense. My major complaint about the game is the story line. This gets extremely frustrating when you have to sit through the longest death animations ever. And if you are anything like me, you will have to do a bit of trial and error before finding the correct path to take. ![]() With such wide, open areas in the map, it’s easy to get lost. But the chase scenes are terrifying and will have you squealing in terror and delight as you run from crazed religious folks. The game will disgust you and terrify you, but you will love every minute of it. There are moments in the game strictly put in to shock you, like being crucified and having to pull yourself from a cross. However, not even I was prepared for the heart-pounding journey that is Red Barrels newest project. Horror is one of my all time favorite things and I spend a lot of time writing and partaking in the genre. I don’t think any horror game has affected me quite as much as Outlast 2has. From there, the story spirals into madness that will leave you gaping at the screen as the credits roll. In an attempt to find your wife, you must traverse the small town of a cult preparing for the final days and the mines of a local group of heretics. ![]() ![]() After a helicopter crash leaves you stranded and alone, the game wastes no time alerting you to what kind of world you have fallen into. You are both journalists investigating the murder of a young, pregnant woman found wandering through the desert. In this continuation of the Outlast series, our story focuses on Blake Langermann and his wife, Lynn. However, much like Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, the small town cult feel provides a fresh perspective in this otherwise anxiety-inducing experience that horror fans will not want to miss. ![]() And the game absolutely loves to punish you. It does not shield you from any of the violence, gore, or religious ideas that this world has to offer. Outlast 2 is a horrific, terrifying experience that will keep you up late into the night whether from nightmares or the inability to put the game down is up to you! However, I feel like I must warn you: this game is brutal. ![]() (Of course it didn’t hurt having one of the greatest songs of all time to assist his rhythm with Survivor’s Eye of the Tiger!) Toughness with footwork is a pretty nasty combo as Ali demonstrated for real and the fictional Rocky showed us in Rocky III. Instead of fighting like a slow (but tough) Italian, he started developing actual rhythm. Once Rocky started to dance, he was a force to be reckoned with. While he was always a tough fighter with heart, he didn’t become a great fighter until he developed the most important skill in fighting, footwork.Īpollo could dance and punch fast and run his mouth, whereas Rocky was tough as nails and slow as molasses. While he was savvy and mentally as tough as anyone, his real mastery was his footwork (widely considered the fastest and best of all time.) When Rocky went down to the beach to train with Apollo, he stepped up his game. Muhammad Ali wasn’t stronger than his opponents. In real boxing though, unless you’re as fast as Floyd Mayweather, Jr., you best have those hands real close to that jaw. ![]() It makes for great film and entertainment with the fighters just pounding each other senseless as there is always an open target to hit. This never happens in Rocky, as the hands are everywhere except up. ![]() Specifically the right hand (for orthodox fighters) is wired to the jaw or “on the phone” as my professor would always say. One hand should literally be touching your jaw at all times. The first lesson any boxing students learn is to keep your hands up – always. I have never seen a poorer display of boxing hand positioning than in these films. Particularly as it relates to the hands, the Rocky movies show beyond bad form. While watching Rocky can show you what it means to have heart, I also think watching the Rocky movies shows a good example of what not to do. No one exemplifies this quite like the character of Rocky, and in fighting, heart matters, more than anything. You cannot will yourself into being a good basketball player, but in boxing it’s not all about talent. What drove me to the martial arts and boxing in the first place is the principle that heart matters. Rocky goes the distance with world champion Apollo Creed because of one thing and one thing only – heart. He ends up losing his title shot but just barely. What changed is that The Stallion found his mojo (falling for the girl in the pet shop), found a little luck (getting a random title shot), and found his trainer (Mickey). Let’s face it Rocky was already washed up when the Rocky series began. Here are the five biggest lessons I learned from Rocky: You’ll also be pretty darned entertained in the process as the Rocky movies (at least the first four) never seem to get old. That said, there are some boxing takeaways from the Rocky series if you watch closely enough. Conversely, while Sylvester Stallone was pretty darn convincing as the character of Rocky, his boxing moves and that of his opponents (save perhaps those of the late boxer Tommy Morrison) left something to be desired. As bad as an actor as Bruce Lee was, his ability as a martial artist was unparalleled both on film and off. That’s how winning is done!”įrom a technical standpoint, the Rocky movies are some of the worst fight movies out there. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward how much you can take and keep moving forward. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. It’s a very mean and nasty place, and I don’t care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. The unfortunate effect is that of an invisible angel of death hooking Rocky's mouth with a fishing line and implacably reeling him in.“Let me tell you something you already know. The famous Stallone face now looks more asymmetrical than ever it's as if a gallon of Botox has been injected into one side of his head, and his lower lip is so skewed that its right corner is now directly under his right earlobe. We get the usual "training" montage showing this Saga-vintage Michelin Man running, lifting heavy weights and roaring motivationally at himself. Then he gets a chance to prove himself in the ring. At any rate, Rocky is now a melancholy widower running a Italian restaurant. It could be that Rocky the Italian Stallion, the legendary boxer he first created in 1976, is supposed to be younger than that, but no one in this film ever has the bad taste to mention his precise age. Maybe when Stallone returns with the fourth Rambo next year, the title should just be John J Rambo, signifying the same sort of gravitas and spiritual acceptance: tying the old red bandana round the head one more time, before heading out to Basra and kicking the asses of a few young punk insurgents, just to show he's still got the chops. |
